Event description

Join West Australian author Bernice Barry as she discusses her historical novel Sarah Evans with Elizabeth Lewis.

Born into poverty, illiterate, and living on the streets of eighteenth century London, the real Sarah Evans appears as no more than a whisper on the pages of history, a prison record signed with an ‘X’ one of the few fleeting references to her existence, but in this uplifting reconstruction of her remarkable story, it is the power of thoughts and words that shapes her life, not the hardship she has known. And it is friendship that teaches her the most important kind of freedom: liberty of mind.
